Next up for our kayak community...

On Saturday, November 20th, in conjunction with Georgia Kayak Fishing Association, we will be conducting a kayak fishing seminar through the "Bring A Buddy" program sponsored by GKFA and Coffee Bluff Marina. If you already have a kayak AND have a friend who is interested in the sport of kayak fishing, we will be conducting a 4 hour seminar on kayak fishing for you both. Bring your friend to the seminar and we will provide him or her with the use of a kayak, paddle, and life jacket. We'll go over some fishing techniques for redfish, trout, and flounder, then launch from the marina and our own Coastal Kayak Champion Chris Chappell will guide you and your friend to some good fishing holes and display hands-on techniques for targeting and catching these 3 inshore species. This is the last seminar to be held this year in conjunction with the Georgia Kayak Fishing Association. The cost is $35 per person, or for members of Georgia Kayak Fishing Association, the cost is $25. These rates include the use of a kayak, paddle, and life jacket for your friend, guided half-day fishing for both of you, and a lunch at the marina upon the return of the fishing excursion for all those involved. Please RSVP and sign up early by calling 925-7474, or shooting us an email at gofish@coffeebluffmarina.net. You can also join the Georgia Kayak Fishing Association by following this link - http://www.georgiakayakfishing.com/.

Now, onto the kayaking page.......

The sport of kayak fishing has grown tremendously, and we at Coffee Bluff Marina take your fishing seriously! Fishing in skinny or shallow water has been a dream for many, and now we have made it a reality...

At Coffee Bluff Marina, we carry a full line of Wilderness Systems kayaks in the Angler series...the Tarpon 120 Angler, Tarpon 140 Angler, and the Tarpon 160 Angler. We also have the Ride 135 Angler, and the new Commander 120 Angler. For a complete analysis of each of these Angler series, simply click on to Wilderness Sysytems' website and follow the pages through these kayaks that we carry:

These kayaks are offered for both sale and rent, and we have implemented a "Try Before You Buy" program. If you rent a kayak and try it out and decide to purchase that model, we'll deduct the rental fee from the sale price. Also, any time you purchase a kayak from us, we'll give you 10% off any associated kayak accessories! Our bait shop has 5 different series hanging up in the shop:

We have also converted our garage into the "Yak Shak", where we keep a nice assortment of the Angler series!

Along with kayak sales and rentals, we also are offering guided kayak fishing excursions. You can either leave directly from the marina, or you can hop on one of our "MotherShip Trips", where we load you and the kayaks up on a boat and take you to an undiscovered kayaking mecca for shallow water angling. Please continue to scroll down to see what we have to offer!

Kayak Rentals

At Coffee Bluff Marina, you can rent a kayak by the hour, half-day, or all day! Of course, if you are going to do any serious fishing, we strongly urge you to at least rent by the half-day. However, you may just want to take a leisurely stroll around the marsh island to see dolphin, otters, minks, and various species of coastal birds, so we offer rentals by the hour, also.

Rental by the hour - $12

Rental for Half Day (4 hours) - $30

Rental All Day (8 hours) - $50

Naturally, we want you to get out and catch some fish, so we'll gladly spend a few minutes with you showing you where to paddle and which sort of baits to use to be the most productive catching redfish, speckled trout, and flounder within an easy distance from our docks.

Kayak Sales

For those seeking to enter the world of kayak fishing, we also sell the Angler series from Wilderness Systems. As mentioned above, you can engage in our "Try Before You Buy" program. Come out and rent any of the vessels you are interested in purchasing, and when you settle on one, we will deduct your rental price from the sale price, plus you can purchase any kayak accessories at 10% off with the purchase of our kayaks. Anyone who is interested in the growing sport of kayak fishing, we strongly recommend you join the Georgia Kayak Fishing website and sign up as an annual member or a lifetime member...they are a great group of guys and will gladly help you catch more fish! Check out their Saltwater Fishing Forum to get an idea...

Kayak Excursions

At Coffee Bluff Marina, we are committed to offering innovative kayak trips designed to meet any desire and budget, which is why we now offer various trips that may suit any fancy!

First, an introduction to kayak guide Chris Chappell...

I have known Chris for over 2 years now, and his style of fishing and knowledge of the sport is incredible! We are proud to partner with Chris in the various ventures and excursions that we now offer...and, by the way, Chris placed 1st in the Georgia Kayak Fishing's Coastal Tournament held on Tybee Island Saturday, October 24, 2009, with a 54 inch grand slam! He nailed a redfish, speckled trout, and flounder while kayak fishing, and his total length of fish placed him first in the coveted coastal tournament...anyone wanting to learn the ropes or find some fish in coastal Georgia would do well to book a trip with Chris! Now that the introduction is out of the way, let's talk about the trips and the prices!

Unguided Fishing Trips

These trips are basically the same as the rental price for the kayaks listed above. You leave from the marina, and we'll point out various locations for you to paddle to and show you the proper rigging, baits, or artificials to catch fish. Rental prices are $30 for a half-day, which is 4 hours, and $50 all day, which is 8 hours.

Shuttle Service - You may want to be carried to some other locations and dropped off to be picked up later, which we also offer. We have United States Coast Guard licenses with enables us to carry passengers in a motor boat, so we now offer kayak excursions that allows us to load your kayaks in our boat, and we'll carry you to various locations that are near impossible to paddle to in a short time frame. We'll drop you off, and come pick you up at a pre-determined time. For this type of trip, which is unguided except for the boat ride, simply add $100 - $175 to the price of the rental boats, depending on where you wish to go. This shuttle fee is the same regardless of how many in your party - if you have 2, 3, or even 4 in your party, simply split the shuttle fee to reduce the per person cost! When you call us to make these arrangements, we'll tell you where the best fishing has been and direct you to the best location, and discuss the shuttle fee at that time.

Guided Fishing Trips

To really get involved in some kayak fishing, it pays to have an experienced guide with you, and Chris Chappell is the man for the job! Leaving from the marina with Chris, 1 person runs $125, and each additional person in your party costs $75 each. This price includes your kayak. All excursions quoted are for trips that average between 4 and 5 hours.

We have trips where we run your party, the kayaks, and Chris as your guide by boat to various locations to fish with the guide. These trips vary depending on location you wish to fish, and the number of fishermen in your party, and the number who want out in a kayak. There are numerous possibilities, so let's discuss each:

The first type of trip is where you and your party hop in the boat with the kayaks and the guide and we drop you off. Chris will paddle you to some hot holes and destinations, show you where to cast and what to use, and be with you throughout the whole trip. We'll break this up into 2 different locations..."Short" and "Long". Depending on your budget, there are some really good spots that won't take us long to reach by boat, which we'll call "Short", and there are some locations that require extra boat time because of the winding marshes that allows us to get way up into unchartered territory, which we'll call "Long". A one person guided "Short" trip will cost $245, and includes everything from the boat ride, the kayak, a guide (Chris), and all fishing gear. The total for a 2 person "Short" trip will run $320, or $160 per man. "Short" trips for 3 people in your party will run $395, or $132 per man, and 4 people would run a total of $470, or $117.50  per man.

Going "Long" means we can get you into some special areas where few ever venture...it doesn't mean the fishing is better, it just allows us to spend some extra time getting to remote locations. A single person "Long" trip runs $325, and 2 people costs $400, or $200 per person. If you have 3 in your party, the cost is $475, or $158.35 per person, and a 4 man trip runs $550, which works out to $137.50 each. Again, both "Short" and "Long" trips include everything except your fishing license, which you can go online to Georgia DNR to purchase:  https://www4.wildlifelicense.com/ga/start.php

Finally, because we know that many of our fishing clientele would rather not get into kayaks, we offer a "Yak Attack" trip. On this excursion, you may have someone in your party who does not wish to get into a kayak, but would rather stay in the boat and fish. No problem!! Our charter vessel is a Pathfinder, specifically designed to get into skinny water. Alas, this great boat aptly named "The Legend" can't go as far in the skinny water as the kayaks, so we'll launch those wishing to get into the skinny water into kayaks from the Pathfinder, and those wishing to stay in the boat can do so and fish. Naturally, this means the boat stays on the fishing trip the entire time with a Coast Guard licensed captain, who will also make sure you are on some fish. Again, everything is included and all you have to do is bring food, drinks, and a fishing license. For a party of 2, the cost is $525, which works out to $267.50 each. One person will launch from the boat with Chris as their guide on kayaks, while the second person will stay in the boat and fish. You may have 3 people in your party...if one goes by kayak and 2 stay in the boat, the total cost is $525...if 2 get into kayaks and 1 stays in the boat, the cost is $600. Lastly, you may have a 4 person trip...1 in the kayak with 3 in the boat runs $525, while 2 in kayaks and 2 in the boat runs $600, and 3 in the kayaks and 1 in the boat would run $675.

As you can see, there are limitless possibilities, and the best thing to do is contact us and discuss what you're interested in doing and allow us the opportunity to make your fishing dreams come true!

2010 Tournament Trail

At Coffee Bluff Marina, we are also proud to be have been the site for the 2010 Georgia Kayak Fishing Tournament Trail...on July 9th & 10th, 2010, we had 50+ kayakers from across the state of Georgia and north Florida descend upon us to compete for the statewide trail! Our team, Team Coffee Bluff, easily won the event by having our 5 team members finish 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th...and our very own guide Chris Chappell took 1st place honors overall...4 of our 5 team members completed the slam with redfish, speckled trout, and flounder! Nice job, fellows!!
